110 years serving dentistry in Costa Rica!

The College of Dental Surgeons is an entity with 110 years of history, tradition and credibility. It is the highest authority in the dental field in Costa Rica and is represented throughout the country by its more than 6,000 members.

Oral health policies

The institution stands out for its active participation in oral health policies, working hand in hand with government agencies such as the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS), the Ministry of Public Education (MEP) and the Ministry of Health, promoting laws and actions that allow the population to access quality services in an equitable manner, as well as decent working conditions for professionals.

The Continuing Education Program

The main objectives of the organisation are to promote high-level professional and scientific development. It facilitates the updating of its members through events and courses that bring them closer to the reality of the dental market and the technological environment of dentistry.

More than 800 dentists

The College of Dental Surgeons of Costa Rica holds the International Dental Congress (CIOCR) every year, which brings together more than 800 dentists to participate in two days of conferences, forums and workshops. It also organizes the largest trade fair in the country, with an average participation of 50 companies and more than 120 stands, where the latest innovations on the market are presented.

So much tradition and quality of an event of this magnitude is the result of a lot of work and dedication, which today is recognized by the FDI by granting the country the venue for the FDI Regional Congress – Dental Meeting of the Americas Costa Rica 2025.

Message from Dr. Greg Chadwick, President of FDI

As President of the FDI World Dental Federation, it brings me immense pleasure to welcome dental professionals, industry representatives, and all attendees to the FDI Regional Congress in San José, Costa Rica. This event, co-hosted with our esteemed member, the Colegio de Cirujanos Dentistas de Costa Rica, will take place from 15th to 17th May 2025.

The FDI Regional Congress is an invaluable opportunity for the dental community in the Latin American region to come together, network, and earn valuable continuing education (CE) credits. Message from Dr. Antonieta Muñoz, President of the CCDCR

The College of Dental Surgeons of Costa Rica (CCDCR) and the International Dental Federation (FDI) extend a warm greeting to you within the framework of the FDI Regional Congress - Dental Meeting of the Americas Costa Rica 2025.

You will be able to experience an unprecedented event, where for the first time a Central American country will host a regional congress of the FDI, the leading organization of the dental profession, representing more than one million dentists worldwide.

Costa Rica has been selected to host this unique meeting of dental professionals, opinion leaders and innovators from across the region, which is expected to be attended by hundreds of Costa Ricans, as well as dentists from across Latin America, Canada and the United States. The meeting will include two parallel activities: the trade fair, with a broad exhibition of the most significant advances contributed by the industry, and a scientific congress at the highest level.
